Other Activities in Punta Cana
Helicopter FlightExperience Punta Cana from up above the palm trees, white sandy beaches and sparkling turquoise waters. The helicopter flight offers an amazing opportunity to see Punta Cana in an exciting and unique way. Fly along the coast of Bavaro Beach taking pictures of the brilliant coastline and amazing coral formations. How long you enjoy sightseeing on this thrilling excursion is up to when you choose from a variety of timeframes.
Fishing has been at the heart of most coastal towns. The tradition continues to this date. A variety of fishing excursions are offered to the tourists. You can learn how to fish from the shore (as many Dominicans still do), go out with a small boat and go fishing on the reefs, or go out with larger boats for some serious deep sea fishing.
Fishing is practiced with success all year round, but the summer is the best time to do so, in terms of the variety and numbers of fish and calmer waters. The South Coast hosts fish like Wahoo, Sailfish, Marlin, Porpoise and Barracuda. The North Coast hosts fish like Wahoo, King Mackerel, Dorado and Tuna. Deep-sea fishing is also available from the East Coast tourism destinations of Punta Cana and Bavaro.
In case you decide venturing out to the seas with a local fisherman, and not a licensed tour operator (something that we do not necessarily recommend) make sure the boat is safe - that it contains life preservers, safety equipment and a working radio.
